Gusset Plates are used in conjunction with X-bracing or diagonal tension strapping in load-bearing shear wall systems, roof framing, header framing, and in-plane framing connections to resist racking, uplift, and shear forces caused by wind and seismic loads, and are typically installed on both sides of framing members and concealed with finish materials.
