BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass

Used in exterior facades, curtain walls, windows and glazed structures where bird-friendly design, daylighting and solar performance are required to meet environmental and building code considerations.

BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass is a laser-etched architectural glass developed to help reduce bird collisions with building facades while maintaining solar and visual performance. The product features a first-surface laser-etched pattern that disrupts reflections and transparency that can confuse birds, combined with a Solarban® low-e coating on the second surface for energy performance when specified. Manufactured using a non-caustic laser etching process, BirdSmart® glass provides bird-friendly visual markers without harsh chemicals. It has received American Bird Conservancy (ABC) tunnel testing approval and is designed to support compliance with evolving bird-friendly building codes, while remaining suitable for a wide range of architectural glazing applications.
