CPD is assessed over a five-year cycle by the New Zealand Registered Architects Board (NZRAB), under Rule 21 of the Registered Architects Rules 2006. Architects are reviewed on their competence, and on the reasonable steps taken to maintain the currency of their architectural knowledge and skills.
The aspirational target is 1000 CPD points per cycle: 100 in Core Professional Development - ethics, professional conduct, and legislative changes - plus 100 in each of the four Units of Competency: design, documentation, project management, and practice management. Each hour of learning equates to 10 CPD points, and records reset at the end of every cycle.
