The Modex Module & Corner are low-frequency membrane sound absorbers, designed to fine-tune the modal distribution in small rooms such as a studio control or music listening room.
Modex Modules can be mounted to any wall or ceiling surface by fastening through the integral side flanges. Modex Corners can be mounted into a corner using the provided corner mounting bracket. With a flat bottom, they can also sit on a level floor and stack up to three high.
The tuning frequencies available for Modex Modules are 40, 50, 63, 80, 100 and 125 Hz. The tuning frequencies available for Modex Corners are 40, 63 and 80 Hz. Both units are designed to cover about 1/3 octave above and below the tuning frequency.
Modex Module & Corner are particularly suitable for home theatres and dedicated listening rooms, which often exhibit poor low-frequency response with significant emphasis at modal resonances. This is especially true when they are sonically well isolated, due to massive boundary construction. Furthermore, porous surface absorption is ineffective at these long wavelengths, resulting in very low absorption efficiency. Because of this, RPG developed a membrane system that converts the high sound pressure fluctuations typically found where room surfaces meet into selective absorption in the modal frequency range.
